Annette C. Brown, 33, of the 800 block of
Meadowlark Circle, is charged with three felony counts of disorderly
conduct, the Kendall County sheriff’s office said Friday.
According to police, on Tuesday evening Brown
reported she was raped by a man wearing the uniform of a police officer
or security guard, who had pulled her car over on Griswold Springs Road
west of Little Rock Road in unincorporated Plano. Brown told police that
the man had led her into a cornfield at gunpoint and raped her. She was
treated for injuries at Valley West Community Hospital in Sandwich.
Police immediately issued a warning to drivers,
cautioning them to call 911 if they felt they were being stopped by a
fake police officer.
But on Thursday evening, the Kendall County
sheriff’s office retracted a community alert about a person who had
raped a woman while impersonating a police officer.
“It was determined the assault did not occur and
there was no police impersonator involved,” the sheriff’s office said in
a press release sent late Thursday night.
